Gilas Pilipinas loses quarterfinals against South Korea, 118-86

Its game over, as South Korea defeated Gilas Pilipinas in the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in the knockout quarterfinals held in Lebanon.

It end up with a disappointing 118-86, which suffered just its first loss of the competition after sweeping its first three games of the tournament. Korea fires up three-point distance all game long, making 16-of-21 (76 percent) from beyond the arc. It continues up to the second quarter as Gilas had gone no answers for scoring outside perimeter or the tight zone defense by the Koreans, which led to 16 points. 

The fight continue as Romeo finishes 22 points in the second period, kept Gilas alive by cutting the deficit to just eight points, 57-49, at halftime. Korean maintained its agilety and shooting power, leading to 34-points as Gilas optimistic to regain the lead.

The team's face off will continue for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers, which will begin later this year. Korea to face the winner of the Lebanon-Iraq Quarter Final.
