Manila, Philippines - Due to Tropical Depression Urduja, a number of government units had announced the cancellation of classes on December 15, 2017, Friday.
Warning signal was raised over 10 areas in Luzon as Tropical Depression Urduja approaches Samar.
A severe Weather Bulletin issued early Thursday morning, Urduja was 175k east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar as of 4.A.M. The tropical depression is moving west at 8kph and has the maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph.
Signal No. 1 has been raised over the following areas:
Luzon
Catanduanes
Albay
Sorsogon
Masbate
Visayas
Eastern Samar
Northern Samar
Samar
Biliran
Leyte
Southern Leyte
Urduja can be expected to bring moderate to heavy rain within its 400-km diameter and scattered to widespread rains can be expected over the Visayas, parts of Bicol, Caraga and Northern Mindanao in the next 24 hours.
