Young Pinay invented air conditioning unit without refrigerant or freon

We could say that air condition unit we used at home has the most highest consumption of electricity every month with bills soaring higher and higher.

Now that concern has been given answered by a brilliant mind of 19-year-old Filipina who developed and with patents applications filed, that could potentially revolutionize the way homes and building are cooled - without the use of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) as cooling agent.

Maria Yzabell Angel V. Palma from De La Salle University mechanical engineering major, has developed an AirDisc prototype that leaves lesser consumption of carbon, instead of using a cooling medium, Palma's AC uses low compression and replaces a high volume of air molecules as refrigerant.

Palma who came from Naga City, a Grade 10 student from the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) Bicol accidentally develop her revolutionary AC invention that uses a disc-shaped compressor in 2016.
A prototype of the AirDisc, an energy-efficient AC that does away with hydrofluorocarbons as cooling agent.

The first man who invented the modern alectrical air conditioning unit was invented by Willis Haviland Carrier in Buffalo in 1902 which uses piston or rotary compressors to pump with the harmful hydrofluorocarbons.

Palma was recognized by the International Federation of Inventors' Association (IFIA). Her invention had already completed the application with the Virginia-based US Patent and Trademarks Office.

Palma is seeking other companies to "join her in propagating the AirDisc, especially in this era of accelerating global warming, which as resulting in recurring heat waves that endangering the health and lives of many."
