Justice Served! Court convicted three Caloocan police on Kian Delos Santos death

The Caloocan court has convicted three Caloocan police for the killing of the helpless 17-year-old Kian Loyd Delos Santos in August 2017. These was the first such convictions since President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs begun. The Caloocan Trial Court Branch 125 under Judge Rodolfo Azucena Jr. sentenced them to up to 40 years imprisonment. 


Police Officer III (PO3) Arnel Oares, PO1 Jeremias Pereda, and PO1 Jerwin Cruz was ordered to compensate the family of Delos Santos with Pesos 350,000 for all the damages.

However, the prosecution failed to proved three policemen on planting illegal drugs and a gun. 

 Kian Delos Santos was killed on the night of Aug. 16, 2017, during a campaign for Drug on war of Caloocan City police.The CCTV footage however went viral online which caused national outrage showing Delos Santos dragged by the police officers and he was later found dead. 

The decision of the court said there was no chance for the young man, a minor, to defend himself. While the forensic evidence and some other witnesses belie the statement of the three policemen, as ballistic tests confirmed that he was shot in closed fire. 

The incident has been criticized by human rights groups to President Duterte, as the teenager's killing found to be execution style that sparked public outrage.
