PLDT, Smart is activating 5G cell site in Clark Freeport Zone

The two largest telecommunications in the Philippines, Smart Communications and PLDT is activating its first 5G cell site at Clark Freeport Zone this November.

A memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by two giant telecommunications together with    CLARK DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (CDC) to launch the first 5G connectivity in the country just days after the bidding for the 3rd TELCO player.

"This will benefit not only Clark but the country as well by demonstrating that we are in step with the rest of the world in adopting advanced intelligent technologies," Pangilinan said. PLDT and Smart together with partner Ericson will fire up the first 5G cell site.

PLDT is also ramping-up its Long Term Evolution (LTE) in Clark and equipping it with 5G.
The next generation 5G signal will assure everyone a fastest data transfer at a cheaper cost which consumes less energy.

Based on the browsing speed test Qualcomm, it could go as high as 1.4 gigabytes per second or over 20 times faster than 4G. Downloading speed could go as high as 186 megabytes per second on 5G.

Smart is also upgrading its radio equipment by installing 5G-compatibility through the companies over 221,000 kilometers fiber network.

Hopefully this upgrading effort could elevate the country's lagging statistic record from ranked 96th, far behind to some other countries according to Ookla Speedtest Global Index.
