President Duterte critic Kevin Mandrilla fires a new

This UP grad named Kevin Mandrilla is making rounds online after a series of posts he recently shared in his Facebook account criticizing President Duterte.

Here are his three viral posts he shared recently that instantly received different reactions from the President's supporters.

3. There are things that you just don't say in public. If you can't make that joke in the workplace as an ordinary employee, then chances are the President of the Republic shouldn't be making that joke either.

We don't carry the full weight of our flag on our shoulders but HE DOES in every waking hour and everywhere he goes. Proper decorum is the least of what is expected of him as a head of state. What's worse is that he made a joke about an issue that his own administration made lethal for ordinary people.

This is beyond what one finds offensive or not. This is also not just about our idea of hiya or decency. This has now become about a President who can't be made accountable for his actions thanks to a democracy bent out of shape.

He does because he can, because there are no immediate consequences and because time and again he has seen millions of his supporters become willing accomplices to his serial misdemeanor. He's okay and happy with an army of apologists, so why bother?

There are twin ironies here. Firstly, there's the audacity of the DDS to call him 'tatay.' Secondly, their crowd are mostly the type who would nominate the lack of discipline as the root cause of our big problems.

*Stretching my neck*

There's nothing fatherly about drunken-like incoherence and terrible behavior. Idealizing him as a 'father of the nation' is an unhealthy fantasy for you and for all of us.

Finally, maybe before any of the DDS or the President himself taunt us with the gauntlet of discipline, it would do you good to check if you haven't pissed yourselves with hypocrisy. If Duterte is the man you associate with discipline then we are in much deeper trouble than currently thought.

You don't owe him anything. Call him out when it's clear that you have to. If you have to stay on that side then at least set some boundaries for your own sake. Don't risk everything. He's not worth it.
