USJR students wins Smart's SWEEP award, creates similar to Airbnb app to locate available parking space in real time

The University of San Jose-Recolletos (SUJ-R) students hailed as the grand winner at the recent Smart's Wireless Engineering Education Program (SWEEP) on May 10.

Kevin Cerdon, Jesury Thomas Gadiane, Noel Daniel seldura, with their faculty adviser Eric Magto have created an app called "Car Space" that allows motorist to search for the nearest available parking space on their area at a real time.

It is quite similar to airbnb online booking, where a user can look for available accommodations. The team brought home the top prize of PHP300,000. From over 160 entries, the judges chose only ten.

Other winners include Asia Pacific College for its entry "LYNIA" that placed second, aims to ease commuter queuing experience in Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) terminals bagged the Fiber Home Award.

Third place goes to the Technological University of the Philippines - Manila for its solution "Beenotified", a cost-effective and full cycle beehive monitoring system bagged Huwei Award for Excellence.

The annual competition marked its 15th year, that encourages innovators in wireless applications development among tertiary students.
