Jollibee commits to hiring Seniors, PWDs to fill jobs in Manila

Isko, Jollibee sign agreement to hire seniors, PWDs to fill in jobs in Metro Manila. On Friday, August 23, the largest fast food operator in the Philippines signed an agreement with the local government of Manila to hire senior citizens and persons with disability (PWDs) in the city.

The fast-food giant with four brands - Jollibee, Mang Insal, Chowking, and Greenwich vowed to hire 78 senior citizens and 39 PWDs for Manila branches. Each branch of the fast food chains will hire a minimum of three qualified applicants - two senior citizens and one PWD.

The jobs for elderly and PWD will only limit to work for four hours a day, and do the light tasks, and may earn as much as P5,000 a month. Older Filipinos are the fastest growing segment of the labor pool which was highlighted by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, to hire seniors and PWDs for equal opportunity to Manilaños.

“Ang gusto lang namin (Our desire is), everybody should be given equal opportunity… to go back to a normal life for them to feel that they are still part and needed by the society,” he said.

Interested applicants may apply at the Public Employment Service Office of the Manila City Hall.
