Negros Oriental Controversial Tourism Billboard In Metro Manila Taken Down After Receiving Backlash Online

Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degano has ordered the removal of controversial billboard along C5 road in Pasig City. The billboard for Negros Oriental tourism showing a romantic moment of a couple - surrounded with a group of dolphins following the motorboat was taken down after being dubbed "offensive".    


The 30 by 50 feet billboard which was aimed to promote the dolphin watching attraction in Bais City, Negros Oriental has received criticism for inappropriate and wrong message.

Provincial Tourism Officer Myla Abellana in an interview with Yes The Best 106, said that the couple featured in the billboard was real, who own a kite-surf school in Zamboanga, Negros Oriental.

All three billboards amounting to 1.5 million pesos for two months has already been paid by the provincial government, she added.

The billboards, which was placed on August 7, is one of three outdoor advertisement that was approved by the Tourism Office, aimed to boost the province of Negros Oriental tourism industry.
