6.3 magnitude earthquake hits Mindanao Photos/Video

A huge 6.3 magnitude earthquake hits North Cotabato on Wednesday as it caused blackouts, panic  to mall goers and fire occurred to some establishments. A fire occurred at the Gaisano Mall in General Santos City as per the video shared by the Facebook user Agnes Santos. 


 The earthquake's epicenter was (6.76 deg North, 125.04 deg. East) somewhere in the municipality of Tulunan, according to the data provided by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). The agency have recorded several aftershocks as of the posting.

PHIVOLCS said the quake was felt as strongest as intensity VII in Tulunan, M'Lang and Kidapawan City and other areas in North Cotabato.


General Santos City Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera has suspended the classes in all levels both public and private schools, colleges and universities on October 17, 2019. CDRRMO and other concerned authorities will be conducting inspections of school buildings and other establishments.
