The 450ft-long towering arch bridge in the Pacific fishing village of Nanfangao in eastern Taiwan collapsed, sending trucks crashing onto the fishing vessels. Initial report said that six people were unaccounted for and could be possibly trapped in the boats underneath the collapsed structure.
Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen said she hoped all was safely rescued in the shortest possible time to minimise the damage, President Tsai Ing-Wen told reporters.
Footage shows the oil tanker truck crossing the bay going to the other side of the bridge when it collapsed seconds later.
