Bacolod City To Hold International Masks Conference This November

The City of Smiles known for its annual MassKara festival will be hosting the 7th edition of the International Mask Conference from November 5-8, with more than 200 delegates from 17 countries.

 The theme is, "Inside and Outside of Masks Culture: Masks, Practice, and Culture". 


More than 400 masks are currently on exhibit at SM City Bacolod at the Atrium, beside Vikings. The International Mask Arts and Culture Organization (IMACO) is composed of more than 130 individuals and group organizations from 60 countries, with their based in South Korea city of Andong.

The exhibit that will run until December 26, features masks from five continents such as Asia, Europe, America, Africa, and Oceania. Among those masks from Asia are coming from the Philippines, particularly the smiling masks from Bacolod City. 

Activities will include Mask and Art Road Performance, World Mask Exhibition, Policy Forum, General Assembly and Academic Symposium, Special Guerilla Performances, and Tours.

Meanwhile, the organization (IMACO) aims to preserve the mask culture, and provide an opportunity from representatives all over the world to unite and share various cultural values.
