Italy reports 475 coronavirus deaths, the highest record in a day

A whopping 475 coronavirus deaths has been recorded overnight on Tuesday in Italy, the highest spike since the outbreak according to report.



Italian health officials said that the 475 new deaths has brought the country with a death toll to nearly 3,000 and a total of 35,700 confirmed cases, with more than 4,000 having successfully recovered.

Among the country in the world, Italy is the world's worst affected after China with at least 8,758 people have died.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak a global pandemic, while officials around the world have restricted travel and ordered schools and other large gathering spaces to close.

The number of people killed by the virus passed 100 in the United Kingdom on Wednesday, according to the BBC, while France and Belgium sit only slightly higher. Spain, meanwhile, has reported nearly 600 dead from the disease.

Many countries have taken drastic measures, including social distancing and cancelling major events to help slow transmission and reduce pressure on the health systems.
