Dad walks home 5kms carrying his dead son in a box is the most heartbreaking scene amid COVID-19 pandemic

It was really hard to imagine for a grieving dad to walk back home from Pasig to Makati with his dead son placed in a box, so he could give him a decent wake.

Rodel Canas, 23, was forced to walk five kilometers after his 32-day-old son succumbed to hospital at Rizal medical Center in Pasig City. According to The Daily Tribune, Rodel's wife gave birth to a premature child last March 11, where he was diagnosed with congenital heart disease resulting from severe sepsis - and he was confined a month ago before he died on April 13.

It was reported that the construction worker dad has a total hospital bill of P245,000, covering the delivery and confinement of his wife and son - is another headache for Rodel.

His very last option is to sought the help of their barangay chairman in East Rembo. Barangay Captain Thelma P. Ramirez gave him a certificate of indigency so that it can help settle his hospital bill.

Then a hospital staff reportedly gave Canas son's body in a box wrapped with packaging tape. Canas was then forced to leave the hospital carrying a box with his son's body all the way home to Makati since Luzon is under the enhanced community quarantine.

With the help of barangay chairman Ramirez, Canas was able to arranged his son's burial in a vacant lot at the compound he was renting.
