Filipino-American pole vaulter Natalie Uy set new record as she broke her own Philippine National Record during Acadia Invitational in Greenville, North Carolina.

Her new record will bolster her bid to qualify for the Tokyo Olympic as she aims to clear 4.7 meters for Olympic standard once qualification resumes.

“It was amazing. It was so great just to be around the girls [and] to just have the energy again,” said Uy in an interview with ESPN.

“Obviously with the quarantine and everything, it’s been really tough to self-motivate by yourself working out. So just being around all the girls with the crowd, it’s been absolutely incredible,” she added.

Sandi Morris controlled the game after clearing 4.81 meter on her first attempt, followed by Nageotte with the same mark on her third try.
