Jake Zyrus nominated at Emmy Awards 2020 for 'Jake and Charice' documentary

Jake Zyrus' documentary story "Jake and Charice" has been nominated in the best arts programming category at International Emmy Awards 2020.

Zyrus shared the news in an Instagram post on Thursday.

The documentary is based on the life story of the singer, after transitioning from Charise Pempengco into the transgender man. It was premiered in Japan in November 2019, where it garnered the Gold Camera award.

"Surreal. Thank you @iemmys - It's an honor," Zyrus wrote in the caption.

"Jake and Charice," produced by Japan's national broadcasting organization NHK in cooperation with ABS-CBN will compete against Brazil's "Refavela 40," France's "Vertige de la Chute (Ressaca)," and united kingdom's "Why Do We Dance?".

The winners of the 2020 International Emmy Awards will be announced on November 23, 2020.
