Ginebra beats TNT, captures first Philippine Cup title in 13 years

Ginebra Gin Kings' won the coveted ALL-Filipino championship for the first time on Wednesday night at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center in Angeles, Pampanga.






Ginebra finished 82-78 against TNT Tropang Giga, with Japeth Aguilar scored 32 points for the lead. Without Jayson Castro and Bobby Ray Parks Jr., Ginebra snatched 13th franchise championship and 1st for All-Filipino title at 4-1.




L.A. Tenorio was named the Honda-PBA Press Corps Finals Most Valuable Player after leading Gin Kings with an average of 13.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.4 steals in the best-of-seven finals.




"Sa lahat ng fans para sa inyo po ito, sayang di ninyo na-witness ito live, pero alam ko nandiyan kayo (To all our fans, this is for you, it’s regretful you didn’t witness this live but I know you are there) watching this game. On behalf po sa Ginebra, para sa inyo po itong championship, (On behalf of Ginebra, this championship is for you)" Tenorio said.





Meanwhile, coach Tim Cone said: "I wanna say to all of our fans out there watching right now. We talk about you guys all the time. This one is for you."
