Jollibee trends online over a 'fried towel' incident

The Jollibee's beloved chickenjoy has became a hot topic online after a customer posted a now viral video of a deep fried battered towel instead of the famous crispy fried chicken.




The incident have forced Jollibee Foods Corp. to temporarily closed their branch in Bonifacio Global City for three days.



A woman named Alique Perez posted on Facebook a clip and photos to expressed her disappointment after receiving a blue towel coated with crispy breading instead of a real chicken. 





"This is really disturbing... How the hell do you get the towel in the batter and even fry it?!?" she wrote.



"I can't even think of the other Chickenjoys na kasama while frying this. Having the same oil for how many hours after frying this fried towel," she said"Chicken, looks like a normal chicken..." she added, while she was trying to show other details on the video.





Jollibee, on its statement said that they have investigated the incident on the said branch. 




"As a result of this incident, we have directed the Jollibee Bonifacio Stop Over branch to close for three days starting tomorrow, June 3, to thoroughly review its compliance with procedures and retain its store team to ensure that this will not happen again," the statement read.







"Jollibee has carefully developed and complied with food preparation systems to ensure that we deliver excellent quality products and customer satisfaction. We will continue to endeavor to deliver on the high standards we have set for ourselves and our franchisees."
