POBLACION GIRL WENT VIRAL FOR ALLEDGELY VIOLATING QUARANTINE RULES

A woman dubbed as "Poblacion Girl" took social media attention for allegedly violating the country's COVID-19 quarantine protocols after leaving her hotel room to party in Poblacion, Makati City.

The Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat on Thursday said that she had called the attention of authorities to crack down on hotels allowing "absentee quarantine" for returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs).

According to Puyat, a Filipina who returned from the United States, and 'boasted of having connections," skipped to being quarantined in a hotel. The Returning Overseas Filipino (ROF) should pay for a five-day stay quarantine, but she was allowed to leave the premises and return four days later for their RT-PCR tests.

"Hindi siya nag-quarantine...Itong taong ito, pagkadating niya (sa Pilipinas), the next day, umikot na ng Poblacion. Hindi lang 'yon, nagyabang pa na may koneksyon daw siya," Puyat said in an interview over dzBB.

Some hotels in Metro Manila, including a prominent hotel is Parañaque City, were asked to respond to the allegation within three days, Puyat said.

A hotel in Makati City was sent a show-cause order by the DOT over a certain Gwyneth Anne Chua who allegedly paid the hotel to allow her to leave, the Business Mirror reported.

The Tourism Department secured screenshots of TikTok videos of Chua enjoying a pre-Christmas party with her friends.

"Poblacion Girl" has been trending on Twitter with some have claimed she had tested positive for the new Omicron variant.

Under IATF-EID Resolution No. 154-C, series of 2021, international arriving passengers shall be require to undergo facility-based quarantine until the release of their negative RT-PCR test.

Also, according to Health Department, non-adherence to COVID-19 guidelines and policies constitutes a violation of Republic Act No. 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Disease and health Events of Public health Concern Act.
