Minutes after the news broke about the tragic incident happened to former Miss USA and Miss Universe host Cheslie Kryst, social media was flooded with reactions from pageant fans and beauty queens.
The global community is mourning after her family confirmed her death in a statement. Kryst died after apparently falling from an apartment building in Manhattan.
"In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie," the statement read. "Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined. Cheslie embodied love and served others, whether through her work as an attorney fighting for social justice, as Miss USA and as a host on EXTRA. But most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague — we know her impact will live on."
Miss Universe shared its own tribute to Kryst, who represented the United States in 2019 and earned a spot in the top 10.
"The Miss Universe and Miss USA Organizations are devastated to learn about the loss of Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst. She was one of the brightest, warmest, and most kind people we have ever had the privilege of knowing, and she lit up every room she entered. "Ches...I can't believe the news. Rest in peace angel. The world will miss your light. 🕊" she wrote on Instagram.
This news about Cheslie Kryst is so sad. I just watched the clip with her & Denzel Washington when she asked what would he want his superpower to be & his response was “To heal”. I pray any pain Cheslie might’ve felt is healed & she is at peace. Check on your people everyone 🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/Tp547ROlrA
