TONGA VOLCANIC ERUPTION ISSUED TSUNAMI WARNING, HUNDREDS FLEE - VIDEO

 At least hundreds of people flee to higher ground after a tsunami waves cause by a giant underwater volcanic eruption have hit the Pacific country of Tonga, Saturday afternoon.




A tsunami warning was issued by the Tonga Meteorological Service, according to reports. Waves have hit the main island of Tongatapu, including Nuku'alofa.



The underwater volcano continued to erupt since Friday morning, spewing plume to altitude 5-20kms above sea level.



Social media footage showed water  crossed shoreline going through the community and capital, Nuku'alofa.


All domestic flights in Tonga were cancelled on Saturday due to the active volcano.
