CARLOS YULO BAGS FIFTH GOLD IN 31ST SEAG

 Carlos Yulo gets fifth gold medal which lead the Philippine gymnastics to best finish with additional two silver in the 31st Southeast Asian Games.



Caloy is expected to receive P1.8-million cash incentives after topping the individual all-around, still rings, and floor exercise events.





He garnered 13.867 points to share the gold with Vietnam star Dinh Phuong Thanh, who concluded with the same score. Yulo had a higher difficulty of 5.400 against Thanh’s 5.00. However, the judges gave Thanh a higher execution score of 8.867 against Yulo’s 8.467; bringing them to a tie for the gold medal.

Senator Christopher "Bong" Go, chair of the Senate Committee on Sports, continued to heap praises on the performance of Filipino athletes at the ongoing 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.


Carlos Yulo playfully apologizes to his mother, Angelica, for not getting all seven gold medals in the 31st SEA Games.




As of 12:00 p.m. on May 16, the country has won 85 medals, including 20 golds, 27 silvers and 38 bronzes. This places the Philippines third among the 11 competing countries in the biennial meet.



“I continue to extend my warmest felicitations and utmost support to our Filipino athletes who are currently participating and have bagged medals for the country in the ongoing SEA Games in Hanoi,” said Go.



“Indeed, the achievements and accomplishments of our athletes serve as a source of encouragement and inspiration among Filipinos, and have even brought the country together,” he added.
