A huge 7.3 magnitude earthquake rock Macquari Island in the southern Pacific Ocean, placing Australia on tsunami warning.
The quake was recorded at a depth of 29.3km (18.21 miles). The Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre has now placed Australia on tsunami alert.
But the US Tsunami Warning System has posted a little threat following the quake.
The island lies just under 1000 miles south east of Tasmania and is home to an Australian Antarctic research station.
