PASSENGER WITH NO FLIGHT EXPERIENCE MANAGED TO LAND A PLANE AFTER PILOT BECAME ILL

A passenger of a single-engine plane has managed to safetly landed a plane after his pilot lost consciousness.

Darren Harrison, a passenger without flight experience became an instant pilot with the help of a Traffic Controller Robert Morgan, a certified flight instructor. Morgan was a break when the call came in from the plane, headed out from the Leonard M. Thompson International Airport in Marsh Harbor, Bahamas.

"I've got a serious situation here. My pilot has gone incoherent. I have no idea how to fly the airplane," said Harrison.

After a dramatic audio exchange, Morgan decided to guide the Harrison to the area's biggest airport.

“Maintain wings level and just try to follow the coast, either north or southbound,” the audibly shocked controller said. “We’re trying to locate you.”

As the passenger remain remarkably calm, they both managed to land the Cessna on the runway safely.
