FIVE FILIPINOS DIED IN FATAL CAR ACCIDENT IN NEW ZEALAND

 Five Filipinos in New Zealand reportedly killed in a fatal road accident on Sunday, June 19, the Philippine Embassy in Wellington reported  Tuesday night, June 21.





"The Embassy was shocked and deeply saddened by this tragedy befalling our Kababayan. On behalf of the Philippine Government, the Embassy offers its prayers and condolences to the family and friends of the victims," the embassy said in a statement.




The nine victims were on their way home from a funeral when their van collided head-on with a truck along State Highway 1, Mount Pleasant in Marlborough.



According to reports said, among those who killed was a baby.




The embassy said it contacted with the New Zealand Police and other agencies since the accident happened.



"The Embassy is coordinating with DFA Headquarters as to the needs of the victims and their families. the devastating news has shaken New Zealand as a nation, especially the local Filipino community. The Embassy reiterates its assurance of its readiness to assist," it said.
