The father of the suspect in the Ateneo de Manila University shooting was gunned down in Lamitan City, Basilan on Friday morning, according to the police.
Rolando Yumol, 69, the father of Dr. Chao Tiao Yumol was shot in his home in Barangay Maligaya by an unidentified suspect around 6:30 a.m., according to a police report.
“Our police personnel in Lamitan City is already conducting an investigation regarding the case. So far, it is speculative to assume its direct relation to the shooting incident that happened last Sunday at the Ateneo de Manila University," the PNP said in a message to CNN Philippines.
The incident came after the younger Yumol has been facing multiple charges for fatally shooting former Lamitan City mayor Rose Furigay, her executive assistant, Victor Capistrano, and Ateneo security guard Jeneven Bandiala.
