MAGNITUDE 7.3 EARTHQUAKE THAT JOLTS ABRA FELT IN LUZON, INCLUDING METRO MANILA

 A Magnitude 7.2 earthquake that hit Abra was felt in Luzon, including Metro Manila, this Wednesday morning.




IT IS THE LARGEST EARTHQUAKE IN THE PHILIPPINES THIS 2022, and the second largest worldwide.



According to EMSC [preliminary data]:

Time: 08:43:24 AM (UTC+8)

Coordinates: 17.49°N, 120.85°E

Location: 83 km. SSE of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte

Depth: 5 km.

Intensity IV was felt in Quezon City.




The tremor was expected to cause damage and aftershocks.
