ANNE HECHE 'NOT EXPECTED TO SURVIVE' AFTER A FIERY CRASH AND LEFT HER IN A COMA

An American actress, Anne Heche, 53, is “not expected to survive” as she remains intubated in the hospital after a tragic car crash on her way into her home on Aug. 5.

A "heavy fire" broke out after the crash, which happened in the neighborhood of Mar Vista, and took nearly an hour to put out, officials said.

Due to the accident, Anne suffered a severe "anoxic" brain injury and left her in a coma and in critical condition, her representative said to HollywoodLife via email.

Anoxic injuries occur when the brain is cut off from oxygen, causing cell death.

"Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and

remains in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive," the spokesperson

said.

"It has long been her choice to donate her organs and she is being kept on life support to

determine if any are viable."

A blood test "revealed the presence of drugs" in Heche's system, the Los Angeles Police

Department said on Thursday. Police could not comment right now on the presence of

cocaine, fentanyl, or alcohol at this time, they said Thursday.

Additional testing is required to rule out any substances that were administered at the hospital

as part of her medical treatment.

“That will be determined by the second test. The case is being investigated as a felony DUI

a traffic collision,” the statement said.

The Emmy Award winner has remained unconscious and in hospital at Grossman Burn

Center in West Hills, CA since.

“Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit,” they said.

“More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work —

especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love. She will be remembered for her

courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.”

“We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne’s recovery and thank

the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses that cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at

West Hills hospital,” the rep said further, going on to thank fans for their support.

"She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light," the

statement ends.

Heche was among the most prominent film stars in Hollywood in the late 1990s, playing

opposite actors including Johnny Depp ("Donnie Brasco") and Harrison Ford ("Six Days,

Seven Nights").

In a 2001 memoir, she discussed her lifelong struggles with mental health.

She recently had recurring roles on the network TV series "Chicago P.D." and "All Rise," and

in 2020 was a contestant on "Dancing With the Stars."

Anne has two children: son Homer, now 20, with ex-husband Coley Laffoon. She is also

mom to 13-year-old Atlas with her ex-partner James Tupper, who she met while filming Men

In Trees in Vancouver, British Columbia. In a statement earlier this week, James sent love for

his ex, who he split from in 2018.
