The comedian and newly-crowned Bb. Pilipinas 1st runner-up Herlene Budol transformed into an iconic Pinoy superhero at her birthday party.
Herlene Budol looked stunning in her 'Darna' suit as she celebrated her 23rd birthday last August 24. The costume was inspired by Marian Rivera's costume when she led Darna's role in 2009.
“Suot ko ang costume ni Darna hango sa idolo kong si Marian Rivera ng GMA Network na naging Darna noon,” said Herlene, who was only ten years old when Marian played Darna.
During the event, Budol also performed her song “Gandang Hipon” while wearing the Darna costume, as seen on her makeup artist Mary Letim’s Instagram Stories yesterday.
Herlene thanked all those who came to celebrate her birthday despite the rough weather. “Natupad na din ang pangarap kong magsuot ng Darna costume sa aking kaarawan. At sa mga pumunta kagabi, na lugod kong kinatutuwa ang mga pasabog at supresa [sic] hatid ninyo sa akin.”
Herlene chose to remake the design of Marian Rivera's Darna costume because she idolizes and admires the actress so much.
Meanwhile, Herlene Budol will continue her pageantry career as she is set to compete in international beauty pageants. This was disclosed by Tolentino, who had already asked for permission from the Binibining Pilipinas organization.
