THOUSANDS OF LANTERN BEARING MESSAGES WERE SENT OFF THE SEA FOR FOUNDATION UNIVERSITY'S DAL-UY FESTIVAL

 The Foundation University in Dumaguete City has welcomed their students with Dal-uy festival after two years. 



Thousands of students, faculty and staff joined the celebration as it marked the opening of Academic Year 2022-2023.

"We commit to continue FUELing your passion and motivation in order to develop the appropriate skill set and rev up the engine to start building a brighter future for your generation," the university said.



One of the highlight of the events is the celebration of hopes and dreams after two-year hiatus. Dal-uy Festival is the annual tradition adopted from the Japanese, lanterns bearing messages of hope, dreams, prayers and aspirations are sent afloat at sea to usher in blessings for the beginning of the new academic year.

Thousands of students, faculty and staff gathered at the Pantawan People's Park, Rizal Boulevard.




Public and private schools nationwide reopened, with many returning to in-person classes. Over 28.03 million students have enrolled this academic year, the Department of Education said.



For over two years since the pandemic struck in March 2020, the Philippines is one of the last countries in the world to resume full-time, in-person classes.
