Vhong Navarro's wife Tanya Bautista couldn't hold on her tears when she goes public on Wednesday, September 21, to defend her embattled husband. She vowed to do all means for the release of the comedian and television host.
Vhong is currently detained at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) detention center after the Taguig Regional Trial Court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for rape. This comes after he posted P36,000 bail for an arrest warrant for a lasciviousness case.
Tanya was so emotional during a media interview held in Timog, Quezon City, on September 21, as she expressed fear for her husband's life if he will be transferred to the Taguig city jail.
When asked about Vhong's situation, Tanya said: "I would described it as rollercoaster. Andun na kami sa point na patapos na pero hindi ko alam paano nila patutunayan itong mga sinasabi nila."
"This time iba yung bagsak ng mga balita. You were being attacked na hindi ka prepared. Wala kang weapon, wala kang gear to protect yourself. parang ganun ang pakiramdam ko," she added.
Tanya continued by saying she will always stand by her husband as she looking forward for the actor's release.
She recalled the night before her husband was detained, "iyak lang ako ng iyak kasi yung disbelief grabe." Tanya admitted that there are still people who are doubt over her husband's case, so she tried to avoid reading hurtful messages.
Tanya said that Vhong's legal team is preparing to file a petition for bail because according to Tanya, the possible transfer to Taguig City jail could be "very scary."
"Threat yun sa buhay niya. I think our lawyers also filed a motion para hindi na umabot doon. Ako right now, and worry ko is security for Vhong. So lalaban kami at alam ko na ipapanalo namin ito."
Tanya thanked those people who showed outpouring support for Vhong on social media.
“Thank you but I don’t read. Hindi ako ganun ka strong. Hindi rin naman lahat naniniwala kay Vhong. So I’d rather not read. So yung mga friends namin nagpapadala ng mga screen shots. Hindi ako pumasok sa commitment sa kanya for nothing. Noong nangyari ito, magboyfriend, girlfriend pa lamang kami. Nakita ko kung gaano siya nagsasabi ng tutoo kaya pinakasalan ko pa rin siya.”
