SAUDI ARABIA GOVERNMENT SHOULDERS UNPAID SALARIES TO DISPLACED OFW WORKERS

The Saudi Arabian government has committed to shoulder the unpaid salaries of displaced OFW workers. It has an estimated 10, 000 displaced OFW workers who have not been paid by some Saudi construction companies that went bankrupt in 2015 and 2016, said Malacaňang.

The pronouncement to the said workers followed after the bilateral meeting of President Bongbong Marcos and Saudi Crown Prince Salman during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Saudi Arabia government said to allocate 2 billion riyals or 30.5 billion for unpaid salaries. The Crown Prince said this was his gift and he has prepared for this.

The Arabian government also assured that this will not happen again to OFWs who will work in their Kingdom.
