Former Quezon City Councilor Roderick Paulate was found guilty of graft and nine counts of falsification of public documents in relation to the hiring of ghost employees in 2010.
The court has released the verdict for Paulate with a total of at least 62 years imprisonment. He was sentenced to 6 to 8 years for graft and 6 months to 6 years for each count of falsification.
Together with his driver and liaison officer Vicente Bajamunde, who was also convicted of graft, the court ordered the two to pay a fine of P1.1-million for the total amount of the payrolls prepared for the job contractor.
Paulate is also fined of P90,000 for each count of the falsification offense. He can no longer run for any position in public office.
The Office of the Ombudsman officially filed the case in 2018, citing Paulate's involvement in a forged documents for job order contractor.
