SIM CARD REGISTRATION ACT: HOW TO REGISTER GLOBE SIM CARD? ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

 The Republic Act No. 11934 or the Sim Registration Act which requires users of all mobile devices, including prepaid broadband devices, must register their SIM card starting December 27, 2022

The move is there to protect consumers from all forms of illegal activities such as scams, phishing, and other kinds of mobile phone and online fraud.

Globe, the leader in mobile has an approximate 87.4 million customers to register their SIMs within six months.

WHO IS REQUIRED BY THE SIM CARD REGISTRATION ACT?

It covers all individuals, both local and foreign, and corporate entities using SIMs purchased in the Philippines for use in devices such as mobile and modems.

UNTIL WHEN IS THE REGITRATION OF SIM CARD?

All users of existing mobile phone and broadband subscribers are given until April 26, 2023 to register their SIMs with their respective telco. But the Department of Information and Communications Technology(DICT) may extend the registration period for 120 days, though it has yet to be confirmed.

WHAT INFORMATION IS REQUIRED TO REGISTER SIMS?

User is required to fill-up the following information:

• Full name
• Date of Birth
• Sex
• Address
• Type of government ID presented + ID number
• Government  ID with photo
• Declaration that the information presented are true and correct

WHAT KINDS OF IDENTIFICATION CARDS WILL BE ACCEPTED TO REGISTER SIMS?

• Passport;
• Philippine Identification System ID, or the Philippine Identification Card;
• Social Security Service ID;
• Government Service Insurance System e-Card;
• Driver’s License;
• National Bureau of Investigation clearance;
• Police clearance; 
• Firearms’ License to Own and Possess ID; 
• Professional Regulation Commission ID;

• Integrated Bar of the Philippines ID;
• Overseas Workers Welfare Administration ID;
• Bureau of Internal Revenue ID;
• Voter’s ID;
• Senior Citizen’s card;
• Unified Multi-purpose Identification Card;
• Person with Disabilities card; or
• Other government-issued ID with photo

Globe, TM, or Globe At Home Prepaid WIFI subscribers can register through  https://new.globe.com.ph/simreg.

I activated my SIM before Dec 27, 2022. Will I lose access to calls, text and data when the law is implemented on Dec 27, 2022?

No. You may continue to use call, text and data services as long as you have an active promo. To keep using your SIM, make sure to register your SIM on or before April 26, 2023.
