STEPHEN SPEAKS AND CREW ESCAPE FROM TRAFFIC VIOLATION IN EXCHANGE FOR SELFIE WITH PH ENFORCER

American pop band Stephen Speaks frontman Rockwell Ryan Ripperger took to his social media account to share his unforgettable experienced in Manila that he himself according to him couldn't believe that it "actually works."

In a post to Stephen Speaks Facebook page, the band said that they were initially pulled over for running a red light in Manila but later freed by the traffic enforcer in exchange for a selfie with him.

"Our Grab (like Uber) driver just got pulled over in Manila for running a red light, and my tour crew bribed him with a selfie with me to let us go. He said he sings Passenger Seat at the karaoke bar," it said.

"I was like…. I can’t believe that actually worked."

Ripperger later clarified and apologized on his updated post after it went viral and drew mixed reactions among netizens.

"The kid driving us showed the officer on his dash cam that he was clear of the light, someone stopped in front of him and that’s why he didn’t make it all the way through."

"We aren’t criminals here. It’s like the replay in a sports game when the referee realizes he saw it wrong. I just thought it was funny the officer wanted a selfie with me. I apologize for using the word “bribe”, that’s not actually how it went down."

The Metro Manila Development  Authority (MMDA) announced that it will investigate the traffic enforcer who was allegedly bribed by the touring crew of the American pop band.
