Bacolod City Plans High-Tech Command Center for Enhanced Safety

Bacolod City is taking a major step towards improved public safety with the planned construction of a PHP2.2 billion centralized command system. This ambitious project, announced by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, will be implemented through a public-private partnership (PPP).

The centerpiece of the initiative is a PHP60 million command center building currently under construction in Barangay Taculing. This hub will house a cutting-edge, computerized system designed to integrate the operations of the Bacolod City Police Office, Fire Station, Traffic Authority Office, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

"Our goal is a safer Bacolod," declared Mayor Benitez.  He envisions the system extending the city's monitoring capabilities through a city-wide network of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

"This isn't just any command center," he emphasized. "We're incorporating modern technology, including artificial intelligence, to enhance our response to crimes and other emergencies. These CCTVs will essentially be our eyes on the ground, allowing us to monitor public spaces effectively. This translates to a safer city for everyone, and that's worth the investment."

The project is designed for phased implementation over the next decade, with a total budget of PHP2.2 billion. Mayor Benitez described it as a "quantum leap" for Bacolod, emphasizing the city's commitment to utilizing the most advanced technology available.
