Rotary Club Bacolod Launches Dental Makeover Project for Teachers

Approximately 110 teachers from Bacolod City and the 5th District of Negros Occidental will benefit from a dental makeover project initiated by the Rotary Club of Bacolod Central (RCBC),

in collaboration with the Philippine Dental Association Negros Occidental Chapter (PDA-NOC) and the Congressional Office of the 5th District.

Dubbed "Project Smile: YuhumniTitser," this expanded project aims to identify 100 teachers from schools in the 5th District and 10 from Barangay Granada in Bacolod City to undergo dental restoration procedures, including extractions, fillings, and dentures.

RCBC President Rolem Basiya, PDA-NOC President Dr. Analie Gonzaga, and Representative Emilio Yulo III formalized the partnership through a tripartite memorandum of agreement signing at Seda Hotel.

Under the agreement, RCB Central will provide administrative support for project implementation. For the Bacolod component, the club has selected Barangay Granada, and 10 teachers from local schools will be chosen as beneficiaries. Barangay Granada Captain Armando Vito has pledged to assist in the selection process and manage dental services like extractions and fillings, while RCB Central will cover the cost of dentures.

PDA-NOC will provide comprehensive dental care, from assessments to post-treatment activities. Representative Yulo and his team will select the 100 teacher-beneficiaries and offer financial and logistical assistance. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

Project Smile was initially launched in 2017, benefiting 20 teachers from Handumanan National High School and Elementary School. The relaunch coincides with Rotary International's Basic Education and Literacy month of September.
