In a recent episode of the international singing competition, Sofronio captivated the four coaches—Gwen Stefani, Snoop Dogg, Michael Bublé, and Reba McEntire—with his rendition of Mary J. Blige's "I'm Goin Down."
"I couldn't hit my button fast enough. Your voice is like butter. It's so smooth and easy on the ears, but your soulfulness touches my heart. You've got my heart," Reba told Sofronio after his Blind Audition performance. The four judges were completely mesmerized by the Filipino singer, hitting their chair buttons within seconds of his starting to sing.
"That was a Grammy-worthy performance. It felt like someone who knows God gave him the gift, and they're just trying to get on this stage to show their talent," Gwen added.
Rapper Snoop Dogg, seeing great potential in Sofronio, urged him to choose him as his The Voice coach, citing their shared "soul and spirit."
"I basically scout for talent like yourself," he remarked. "Get in where you fit in."
Canadian singer and songwriter Michael Bublé leveraged his connection with his Filipino fans and his admiration for the Filipino people and their love for music.
"I want to pause and say 'salamat' because my relationship with the Philippines makes me love you even more. Your people are such beautiful people. I can imagine how proud you're going to make them. There's something inherently beautiful about music for you. I got goosebumps because I'm emotional," he said.
Michael then emphasized that Sofronio embodied the spirit of the competition, saying, "This is what this show was named after. It was named after you, The Voice. You and me to the top."
With such heartfelt comments from the coaches, Sofronio chose Michael, who gave him a hockey jersey as a sign of being part of Team Bublé.
"I really want to say thank you. You really don't know how big this is for me. I've been watching the show since Season 1 and now, from the Philippines, I am here... I will pick Michael," Sofronio said. Michael then thanked the Filipino singer and shared how excited he was to have his first team member be as amazing as Sofronio.
"I really can't even tell how good that felt to set that as the precedent as to who will be on Team Bublé," he said. "My strategy is about finding an artist who has the ability to connect emotionally."
The Canadian singer continued, "Sofronio's voice is truly incomparable. He is a sensational young talent and I just love that I get to go on the ride with him."
In a previous post on his social media page, Sofronio shared that he had been keeping his audition a secret until it finally aired during its premiere episode.
"I've been keeping this secret for a long time and yes, I AUDITIONED for The Voice Season 26!" he announced. Sofronio then shared some behind-the-scenes photos of his memorable audition in a separate post.
Fans and followers who have watched his performance couldn't help but express their appreciation and excitement for the Filipino singer's journey in making his name on the international scene.

Sofronio replied, "@anakarylle Thank you ate! I also mentioned TNT during my interview as my root ground." He also expressed his gratitude to everyone celebrating his performance in the show, saying, "Thank you everyone! I truly appreciate each one of you. This was just my dream before and now I get to see myself. Thank you @nbcthevoice ❤️."
