A 51-year-old female nurse was killed in a stabbing incident at Bohol Doctors Hospital on Thursday, October 17. Police identified the victim, whose name was withheld at the family's request.
The suspect, Marlito Cardines Linguis, 31, was arrested at the scene. He is a known drug surrenderer who surrendered in 2016 or 2017. It's unclear if he was still actively using drugs at the time of the attack.
According to police, the suspect was admitted to the hospital for loose bowel movement. As he was being discharged, he made a joke with the nurse that he wouldn't be able to leave, even after paying his bills. The suspect became enraged and stabbed the nurse multiple times with a pair of scissors.
A hospital utility staff, Francis Mora Justiniare, tried to intervene but was also stabbed. Fortunately, he survived. Security guards apprehended the suspect until police arrived.
Linguis is now detained at the Tagbilaran police station and faces charges of murder and physical injury.
