Kacey Dela Rosa once again led Ateneo de Manila University to a resounding victory over the University of the Philippines, 75-66, in the UAAP Season 87 women's basketball tournament.
The reigning MVP showcased her dominance with 28 points, 19 rebounds, five blocks, two assists, and two steals. This stellar performance marked her 11th double-double of the season.
With this win, Ateneo improved to a 6-5 record, solidifying their hold on the fourth spot in the league standings. Meanwhile, UP's loss dropped them to 3-7, making it increasingly difficult to secure a Final Four berth.
Adamson Lady Falcons, on the other hand, clinched their Final Four spot after defeating the University of the East, 66-48. This marks their first Final Four appearance since Season 82.
Ateneo's head coach, LA Mumar, expressed satisfaction with the win but emphasized the need for improvement: "We were terrible today; I'm happy with the win, don't get me wrong, but hopefully we can polish some things moving forward."
Key players for Ateneo included Junize Calago and Michelle Oani, who contributed significantly to the team's victory. For UP, Kaye Pesquera and Louna Ozar led the scoring efforts.
Ateneo will look to extend their winning streak against Far Eastern University on November 9, while UP faces a tough challenge against undefeated National University on November 3.
