Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) secured a decisive 91-68 victory over Colegio de San Juan de Letran in their NCAA Season 100 rematch on Friday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
The Pirates' triumph avenged their first-round loss to the Knights and improved their record to 5-5, while Letran slipped to 6-4.
LPU's dominance was evident in the final quarter, where they outscored Letran 21-7 to seal the win. After leading 70-61 at the end of the third period, the Pirates' relentless attack proved too much for the Knights to handle.
Renz Villegas led the scoring charge for LPU with 23 points, while John Barba contributed a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds. JM Bravo, making his return from injury, nearly recorded a double-double of his own with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Deo Cuajao paced Letran with 16 points, but the Knights' offense struggled to keep up with LPU's efficiency.
The victory marked a significant milestone for LPU, who will now look to build on their momentum as they face San Beda University on Tuesday. Letran, meanwhile, will have a chance to regroup as they take on the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA on Sunday.
