To ensure a safe and peaceful celebration of the 45th MassKara Festival, Bacolod City has deployed a substantial force of security personnel. A total of 1,859 joint security personnel will be on duty throughout the festival, which kicks off on October 11, 2024, with a "Grand Salubong" at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).
The security forces, led by the Bacolod City Police Department, aim to maintain "zero crime" during the festival. They will be responsible for securing the four main festival sites: the BCGC grounds, Bacolod City Public Plaza, The Upper East, and Lacson Street.
The security contingent includes 1,199 policemen, 330 personnel from other law enforcement agencies, 230 force multipliers, and 100 personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and rescue groups. They will be supported by various equipment, including mobile patrol cars, motorcycles, fire trucks, civil disturbance management equipment, and hand-held radios.
To further enhance security, the Bacolod City government has requested a gun ban from October 11 to 28. Additionally, a ban on drone flying at festival sites has been proposed, with exceptions for drones operated by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation.
The MassKara Festival will feature a variety of events, including sports competitions, food festivals, beauty pageants, dance competitions, and more. The festivities will take place at four major festival sites, including the Bacolod City Government Center, Bacolod Public Plaza, Lacson Tourism Strip, and Megaworld's The Upper East.
With a massive security presence and a diverse range of activities, Bacolod City is poised to host a memorable MassKara Festival. The event will showcase the city's vibrant culture, strong community spirit, and commitment to safety and security.
