Kanlaon Volcano erupted twice on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). The volcano also released a large plume of ash 750 meters high, drifting northeast.
Additionally, 14 volcanic earthquakes were recorded, an increase from the 10 recorded on Tuesday. PHIVOLCS maintains Alert Level 2 over Kanlaon, indicating increased unrest and the possibility of sudden steam-driven or phreatic eruptions.
Entry into the 4-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) and flying near the volcano are prohibited.
