VCHA member KG has filed a lawsuit against JYP Entertainment alleging severe mistreatment and exploitation. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, accuses the company of child labor exploitation, child neglect and abuse, unfair business practices, and breach of contract.
KG, a 17-year-old singer, claims to have experienced physical, emotional, and mental distress, including being overworked, underfed, and subjected to harsh living conditions. The lawsuit also alleges that a VCHA member attempted suicide, and the company did little to address the situation.
KG's decision to file the lawsuit comes after she terminated her contract with JYP in May. In a statement posted to Instagram, she expressed her concerns about the working conditions within the K-pop industry and urged for change. She also thanked her fans for their support and stated her intention to continue making music in the future.
This lawsuit has sparked widespread discussion about the often-exploitative nature of the K-pop industry, particularly regarding the treatment of young idols. As the industry continues to grow in popularity, there is increasing scrutiny on the companies that produce and manage these artists.
