Manila, Philippines - Aspiring lawyers, take note! The Supreme Court of the Philippines has announced that applications for the 2025 Bar Examinations will open on January 8, 2025. The announcement was made via a post on X (formerly Twitter), reminding hopefuls to access the Bar Applicant Registration Information System and Tech Assistance (BARISTA) through the Philippine Judicial Portal starting at 8:00 AM on the said date.
This year's Bar exams are scheduled for September 7th, 10th, and 14th, 2025, and will cover six core subjects over three days.
Here's the exam schedule breakdown:
Day 1 (September 7th):
- AM Session: Political and Public International Law (15%)
- PM Session: Mercantile and Taxation Laws (20%)
Day 2 (September 10th):
- AM Session: Civil Law (20%)
- PM Session: Labor Law (10%) and Social Legislation (10%)
Day 3 (September 14th):
- AM Session: Criminal Law (10%)
- PM Session: Remedial Law, Legal Ethics, & Legal Forms (25%)
The examination format will consist of 20 essay questions per exam day, with each question carrying a weight of 5%.
The online application period will close on March 17, 2025, as stated in Bar Bulletin No. 2.
This announcement comes on the heels of the recent 2024 Bar exam results, which were released on December 13, 2024. A total of 3,962 new lawyers were welcomed into the legal profession, with a passing rate of 37.84%. Kyle Christian Tutor from the University of the Philippines emerged as the topnotcher.
The Supreme Court also reminded successful examinees from the 2024 Bar about the upcoming Oath Taking and Roll Signing Ceremonies scheduled for January 24 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay.
