Dubai's Commitment to Cleanliness Earns Top Spot in Global Index

Dubai has once again proven its commitment to pristine urban environments, securing the top spot as the world's cleanest city for the fifth year running.
This accolade comes from the 2024 Global Power City Index (GPCI) report, published by the Institute for Urban Strategies at the Mori Memorial Foundation in Japan.

The city achieved a flawless 100% score in the cleanliness metric, a key indicator used to evaluate the overall strength of cities worldwide. Outperforming 47 other major global cities, Dubai's achievement underscores its dedication to setting a benchmark for future urban development.

This continued success is attributed to the collaborative efforts of Dubai Municipality and its partners in both the public and private sectors. By implementing comprehensive strategies and maintaining high standards of urban cleanliness, Dubai has solidified its position as a leader in sustainable urban living.

His Excellency Marwan bin Ghalita, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality, emphasized the city's ambition to be the best place to live and work, stating that "Leadership and excellence are built on teamwork, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the highest standards." He praised the municipality's 3,200 strong cleaning team and their use of advanced technology as key factors in achieving this recognition.

The municipality's commitment to cleanliness extends beyond traditional methods. Leveraging smart technologies for waste management and sustainability initiatives, Dubai continues to prioritize environmentally friendly practices.

In addition to its cleanliness ranking, Dubai also secured the eighth position globally and first in the Middle East in the overall Global Power City Index for the second consecutive year. This achievement marks another significant milestone, positioning Dubai as a leading global city and a model for urban development in the region.
