FBI Probes Cybertruck Blast Outside Trump International Hotel, Killing Driver in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV - A fiery explosion involving a Tesla Cybertruck outside Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas has left one dead and seven injured, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and raising concerns of a possible terrorist attack.

The incident unfolded Wednesday morning just outside the hotel's entrance. Videos circulating on social media captured the dramatic scene as the electric pickup truck erupted in flames, sending debris flying and plumes of smoke billowing into the air.

This incident comes on the heels of a deadly attack in New Orleans earlier the same day, where a truck plowed into a crowd of New Year's Day revelers, killing 15 people. Authorities are investigating possible connections between the two events.

"Obviously a Cybertruck, – there’s lots of questions that we have to answer,” acknowledged Sheriff Kevin McMahill of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The FBI has joined the investigation, with Special Agent in Charge Jeremy Schwartz stating that determining whether the blast was an act of terrorism is a primary goal.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk addressed the incident on social media, asserting that the explosion was unrelated to any malfunction of the Cybertruck itself.  "We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck," Musk stated, adding that all vehicle data indicated normal operation at the time of the blast.

The deceased individual was found inside the vehicle, while seven others suffered minor injuries. Both the Cybertruck involved in this incident and the vehicle used in the New Orleans attack were reportedly rented through the car-sharing service Turo.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as the investigation continues. The hotel was evacuated following the explosion, with guests relocated to other accommodations.
