Filipino surfer sacrifices gold medal for SEA Games to save Indonesian competitor from drowning

Do you still remember Roger Casungay?

He is the same person featured in KJMS and went viral having a beautiful girlfriend. He is one of the surfer contestants representing the host country for the SEA games, Philippines.

The surfing gold medal match was held at Monalisa Mt. San Juan La Union last Friday.

In a viral post of Jefferson Ganuelas, the surfing competition was on hold after an Indonesian surfer broke his leash and swept away by bomb wave.

Roger Casungay aimed to bring the gold for the Philippines but he chose to save an Indonesian surfer after being separated on his boardsurfer.

Roger didn't finish his tricks show in the longboard competition and chased the floating surfer in the middle of the big waves.

He boarded it on his board and both of them safely returned to shore.

The people lauded Roger for his sportsmanship. The United Philippine Surfing Association also lauded him for his effort to save his fellow competitor, calling it "Sportsmanship at its finest!".

Roger shows not only winning for the gold but winning for the heart.
