Angel Locsin praised for her initiative to Taal relief efforts

Days after the Taal volcano eruption, actress Angel Locsin appeared in social media platform calling for the information about the Taal volcano eruption victims for the possible distribution of relief.

Unlike other philanthropic initiatives, disaster relief, both natural and manmade, requires a quick response and is rarely accounted for in giving plans, leaving donors a short window to logistically manage the liquidation of funds, finding out where best to direct those funds and how to be confident they’re being deployed appropriately.

“Anyone here na may na-conduct na assessment kung anong mga kailangan, anu-anong baranggays, at ilang families per baranggay? Thank you. #Taal,” the actress tweeted.

Locsin as one of Forbes' 2019 Heroes of Philanthropy was praised online. People dubbed her as the real-life Darna for her quick response in the wake of Taal volcano eruption.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has raised the alert level to four, meaning an explosive eruption could happen in the coming hours or days - causing people to evacuate from the danger zone. Thousands of people had sought shelter in temporary evacuation centers since Monday.

Taal began spilling volcanic ash on Sunday, prompting nearby communities to be evacuated.

Almost half a million people live in the danger zone were evacuated.
