12,576 new COVID infections recorded ahead of ECQ extension in Manila, 4 provinces for a week

 On Saturday, April 3, the Philippines has recorded 12,576 new COVID-19 cases ahead of the decision to remain Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal under the strictest community quarantine status as the infection continues to spike.





The country has a current 165,715 active COVID cases, according to the Department of Health. On Friday, the country recorded 15,310 cases.







The move to extend "NCR Plus" under ECQ until April 11 was supported by the Department of Health, some mayors, and the OCTA Research group to contain the pandemic.





"Karagdagang linggo, minimum of one additional week beginning on the 5th," presidential spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. said.
